The Federal University of Uberlândia (in Portuguese Universidade Federal de Uberlândia; UFU) is an institution in the southwest of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is a public university (and therefore it does not charge any tuition for the enrolled students) located in Uberlândia. The students are admitted through yearly exams, the vestibular.
As of 2008, UFU offers 33 different undergraduate degrees, including an extremely sought-after Medicine degree, more traditional options such as Law and Economics, plus a handful of Engineering and a wide array of Science and Art degrees. It also offers 10 PhD programs, 22 MSc programs, 34 diplomas and 21 medical residence programs.[1] UFU projected the city of Uberlândia, which use to be nationally unknown, into Brazilian's academic field.
